As you may have guessed The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is located on the same floor, where Lee Harvey Oswald shot John. F Kennedy on the 22nd of November, 1963. Sadly Kennedy was pronounced dead, just 30 minutes after he was shot.
Explore the John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation exhibit:
The John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation is a permanent exhibition that chronicles the events which led to Kennedy’s assassination. During your visit, you’ll come across the infamous corner window, where Oswald fired multiple shots at Kennedy. You’ll find that the corner window has been set up accurately as it was recreated using police photographs of the crime scene.
You’ll also learn about the aftermath of Kennedy’s assassination and how Oswald was arrested for the deaths of John F. Kennedy and a police officer J.D. Tippett. As well as how Oswald was murdered in his jail cell, within 48 hours of murdering John F. Kennedy. Some artifacts which are on display include Oswald’s wedding ring, the hat of the nightclub owner who murdered Oswald. Also make sure to head to the corner staircase, where you’ll see an exact replica of the rifle which Oswald used to shoot Kennedy.
Visit Dealey Plaza:
After touring the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza head outside to Dealey Plaza, where is the site where Kennedy was shot during a motorcade that was supposed to travel through the plaza. While visiting Dealey Plaza try to spot the window where Oswald shot Kennedy, which you explored earlier. Today, you’ll find a statue and a memorial honoring Kennedy in Dealey Plaza.
