Since 2010, Strikes Against Cancer has been a client of Red Spot Design. We helped them launch their non-profit organization with their first website and since then have helped with many website updates.
When Strikes Against Cancer approached us with the vision for their new website, we knew this was more than a design project; it was about amplifying a cause that resonated with countless lives. They desired a custom website that could grow with them, echoing the expanding reach of their impactful work. Their old website, which we had put together using WordPress, had done a great job for them. But as their needs started to change and grow, it became clear that it was time for a fresh start and a new look to keep pace with their journey.
Crafting a Vision Together
Working on the design for Strikes Against Cancer was a dynamic and evolving process, with a lot of back-and-forth brainstorming, suggestions, and fine-tuning. We kicked things off with a variety of home page designs, each capturing a different essence of who they are. Through plenty of open conversations and creative digging, we shaped a design that really clicked with what they stand for and dream of achieving. Once the home page design was approved we also went through the same process for many sub pages until we had the designs exactly how the client wanted them.
The Completed Website
The result of our teamwork is a custom made WordPress website that truly embodies the resilient spirit of Strikes Against Cancer. Now up and running at www.strikesagainstcancer.org, this website is so much more than a place to find information. It’s a gathering spot for the community, a fountain of inspiration, and a rallying cry for action.
Stories of Courage: The Memorials and Survivors Section
One of the most touching aspects of the new site has to be the Memorials and Survivors section. It’s a special corner dedicated to the stories of individuals who’ve been affected by cancer. It’s a place for sharing, healing, and remembering together. This section serves as a powerful reminder of the personal journeys intertwined with the organization’s mission, adding a deeply human element to the online experience.
United by Baseball: Tournaments and Community Engagement
Strikes Against Cancer really taps into the collective love for baseball, using it as a rallying point in the fight against cancer. The website is a vibrant display of upcoming tournaments and events, extending an open invitation to the community to come together and stand united for the cause.
Gear Up for Good: The Shop Page
Adding a Shop page to the site hits two birds with one stone: it not only lets supporters show their solidarity by sporting the cause’s gear but also helps raise funds for the mission. With all sorts of official merch up for grabs, it’s an invitation to wear your support on your sleeve and make a real impact with every item you pick up.
Working on this project felt like so much more than just teaming up; it’s been a real journey, one where our shared beliefs and mutual respect shone through at every step. Here at Red Spot Design, we’re truly touched to lend our expertise to such a heartfelt cause. This new website stands as a shining light of hope, a tribute to the unbreakable human spirit, and a nod to the incredible strength we find in community.
